When Kendall County Commissioners purchased the 405-acre tract to establish Joshua Springs
Park and Preserve, their vision included strategic development of portions of the land to gain the
broadest use of the Park while also retaining the environmental integrity of the Preserve.
In June 2008 the County signed a long-term lease with Kendall County 4-H Horse Club and Kendall
County Junior Livestock Show to develop a youth agricultural, equestrian, and educational complex
on 33 acres in the northeast corner of the Park.
In the Youth Agriculture & Equestrian Center, the County has found an ideal combination of
partners who desire to develop a high-use facility in a manner that will make conservation and
environmental education a constant component.
Conveniently located off Interstate Highway 10 between Boerne and Comfort, the Youth
Agriculture & Equestrian Center will include two covered equestrian arenas with stalls, a livestock
showbarn, sale ring, RV hook-ups, and parking. A future phase of the project will include a large
Multi-Use Center linking the two facilities that will provide meeting rooms, classroom space, and a
gathering hall.
The collaborative organizations now are seeking philanthropic support from individuals and
organizations which value well-rounded educational opportunities for the youth of the Texas Hill
Country.
